Criminal indictments of individuals, even if firms are too big to indict, appear to be in the making as the tsunami’s shock waves are about to spread to many of the usual suspects. One can only imagine the trial lawyers licking their chops. Has there ever been a class action lawsuit on behalf of the whole world?
Meeting at the NoVo Foundation
Last week, the Capital Institute team was invited to present some of the findings from our work at the NoVo Foundation. We enjoyed immensely the opportunity to reconnect with old friends and build some new relationships, and appreciate all the efforts of both the NoVo Foundation and RSF Social Finance that made the event possible.

It's Conference Season!
We’d like to call our Capital Institute community’s attention to four not-to-be missed events upcoming this spring. “Degrowth in the Americas,” to be held in Montreal from May 13 to 19 will focus on what degrowth means for our Hemisphere. BALLE’s “Prosperty Starts Here,” to be held in Grand Rapids from May 15 to 19, is the organization’s annual gathering of local economy entrepreneurs and visionaries. On Earth Day Slow Money NYC will showcase five pioneering food entreprenuers from the lower Hudson Valley of New York in Pocantico Hills, NY. Capital Institute Founder and President John Fullerton will be a speaker at the Degrowth and BALLE conferences. The Public Banking Institute is hosting its inaugural Public Banking Conference in America in Philadelphia April 27 and 28, taking a look at public banking success stories and the hidden costs of our current banking system.
GIIN: Working For a More Transparent Impact Investing Sector
August 2012 Update—In June 2010 Capital Institute posted the profile below of the Global Impact Investors Network (GIIN), a not-for-profit focused on promoting a more transparent and efficient global impact investing market. The Global Impact Investors Network (GIIN) has since made significant strides through a variety of initiatives toward its goal of supporting the growth of the market sector.
